We hear so often these days about how gloomy the prospects are for school leavers in the current economic climate, but one of last year’s sixth form graduates took time out return to her former school in Hornsea recently to give positive encouragement to the students who will go on to be the class of 2014.
Sophie Janes’ success in forging a career in web design and social media at a relatively young age was clearly inspiring to the students of Hornsea School & Language College and to the school’s Head of IT, Gavin Dawson. Accompanying Sophie on the visit was her boss – Managing Director of Holler Marketing, Neal Edlin – who passed on valuable insights into the principles, concepts and creation of web design.
Neal also went on to explain the importance of understanding the client’s goals, and the process of bringing together creative inspiration with the technical aspects of web design.
Sophie, who graduated Hornsea’s sixth form last year, was keen to share the details of some of the successful web design projects she has undertaken at Holler Marketing to provide guidance and inspiration to her former students. She commented: “Going back to school to talk to the students was a brilliant experience – it was great to see my former tutors again and to offer advice to others who are at the same point in making career choices as I was not so long ago.”
