Our work in the Community.
Lending a helping hand.
Yorkshire Media strongly believe in helping local causes, and have given our time and expertise in all sorts of circumstances over the years, including helping charities such as Cardiac Risk in the Young, Cash for Kids, and Bundles of Joy, fundraising for community facilities including the refurbishment of a local play park, and getting involved with business-related groups whose goal is to help grow the local economy. We are currently actively involved with the following organisations:
Bundles of Joy.
Bundles of Joy are a Beverley-based charity who do amazing work supporting some of the poorest local families during their most difficult times.
We first met Claire Raper from Bundles of Joy at a business expo in 2017, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. In late 2018 we started helping her with updating the charity’s website, with the aim of making it more user friendly and engaging; we started with a detailed review of the content, usability, website traffic, visitor behaviour, and technical performance, and then Lynn (our SEO expert), Sophie (our graphic designer), and Michele (our marketing expert) created a list of recommended improvements across the website. With Claire’s approval, we have been working to implement the changes, allowing her to concentrate on the charity.
The Business Culture Hull.
The Business Culture Hull has been working hard to support and bring together Hull business people since 2016, and to celebrate all that is great about the city.
Yorkshire Media’s MD Mark has known The Business Culture Hull’s founder Tony Bowler for many years and was delighted to take on the creation of the organisation’s stylish magazine. Published quarterly in hard copy, the content is curated by Tony and Mark with useful information and insights from the group’s members; the magazine is designed by Yorkshire Media’s graphic designer Sophie, and it is then printed and distributed to businesses across the city and in the surrounding areas.
For Entrepreneurs Only.
FEO is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Hull, whose goal is to help build the local economy by motivating, inspiring, educating, and supporting local entrepreneurs.
Our MD Mark is a member of FEO, and has recently become involved in inspiring our area’s next generation of entrepreneurs by delivering presentations to local students at institutions such as East Riding College.
Women’s Enterprise in the Humber.
WEIH is a ladies networking group that offers support and advice to women in business in Hull and the Humber region.
The group was started in 2004 by Maureen Foers OBE and when she decided to hand over the reins our director Lynn and 2 other members of the group, Liz Turpin and Stella Onyett (who has since stepped down due to personal reasons) took over. Between the 3 of them, they organise the venue’s, speakers and finance. Our apprentice Jemima has also created a website for members to find event details and add their information to the member’s directory. Lynn and Jemima handle the social media for the group, posting on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, and sending out Eventbrite invites. Our designer Sophie created the new logo and has designed a roller banner.
